The end of August was the beginning of a trip I had been looking forward to all year – I was going back to Europe! And this time, with someone to share it all with – my partner, Christian.

Our first port of call was London, England and it was a rather important one as it was time for me to meet the family! My partner comes from a town a little over an hour outside of central London and this was the first time he would be home in about three years and the first time I was meeting his family and his old friends (outside of the Skype dates we’d had). I was a little nervous, but totally jump-up-and-down excited.

It was a special reunion for my partner and his family, and we had the most wonderful week there. Our first few days we stayed in Richmond, a gorgeous suburban town in South-West London, that sits along the River Thames.

We spent our few days there exploring the city, shopping in Covent Garden and Sheppard’s Bush and sank Guinness and cider at Christian’s old stomping ground Waxy O’Connors. This pub was unlike any other I’ve been to! Making an immediate decent once inside, the interior was made entirely of gorgeous wood, with large branches, wooden benches and tables. Right in the middle we were greeted by a large wooden bar, striking floor tiles and hanging iron chandeliers. You could easily loose track of a few good hours down here, over a few pints with friends.

During our stay, we were blessed with a number of uncharacteristically sunny days so made sure to enjoy a picnic in the park, feeding squirrels and rolling down the grassy hills. We wandered through Richmond Park: National Nature Reserve on an inner-city safari (spotting wild stag and deer), ate some of the best Sicilian and Indian food we’ve had and played tourist seeing sights such as Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and so, so much more!

I’ve always been a lover of big cities, and London is no exception.
