A few days into our stay at Cerbère, we caught the train and set off to Carcassonne for the day. This quiet little town has quite the attraction, with a medieval city still standing just outside the centre.
It’s certainly very tourist driven, with horse drawn carriages running every other hour and souvenir shops a-plenty, but the cobblestone ‘roads’ and many buildings that have been preserved and retain so much of their original character add a good dash of authenticity. Christian and I wandered around to the castle and took the audio guided tour (we love learning as much as possible about the places we see). Don’t miss out on the views from up along the castle walls, looking out over the quaint town below.
