Sunset is still my favourite colour

Day two of our stay in Bali called for a bit of exploring. Sarah and I woke up and headed straight for Earth Cafe, before spending a few hours shopping along Jl. Kayu Aya. It was an impossibly hot day, so ducking in and out of the air conditioned stores was a blessing! After we’d had enough retail therapy, we went back to our villa for a dip in our pool and a few cold Bintang’s. Soon it was time to get dressed and make our way to Bodyworks Day Spa for some pampering before dinner – this place is incredibly popular, and if you’re after one of their lush massage treatments or perhaps hair and make up, I would advise booking a few days in advance! We managed to squeeze in for a manicure.

From there we walked around to one of Bali’s most popular destinations, Potato Head Beach Club. The weather had turned on us, and it was now raining on and off – we were told at the front gate that the pool beds had been closed for now due to the bad weather, so we were happy to have a dinner reservation in place under cover.

Potato Head sits at the end of a very long driveway, lined with trees. Once you pass security at the check point, it’s a little walk further where the main building greets you, with it’s gorgeous entry way and colourful exterior made up of wooden shutters. It’s a bit of an architects dream really.

We were early, so grabbed a seat for some wine and nibbles while we waited. With such a great atmosphere and soundtrack playing, the rain couldn’t dampen our spirits. A menu full of potent cocktails, delicious wine and an impressive cheeseboard at our finger tips what could we possible be down about!

Sarah had booked us a table at one of their restaurants, Lilin before we even arrived in Bali. She was told it was the best spot to watch their famous sunsets, and with an incredible Asian fusion menu it was right up our alley. We ordered more wine, and once Anya arrived it was time for food. The dishes came out tapas style, which is fantastic for sharing with friends, and there were endless options to choose from. This meal, was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life – it really was outstanding! Sadly, the weather blocked most of the setting sun (I can only imagine how beautiful they are on a clear day), but meant we could watch the storm light up the sky, as lightening bolts danced over the ocean. The rain held off once we finished eating and the staff arranged to bring us cocktails by the pool where they had laid towels and set up a small table for us on one of the beds.

You could easily spend an entire day here – with plenty of options for food, a number of bars (including one in the pool), a permanent DJ booth and large infinity pool over looking the beach all set on beautiful grounds – it really is the perfect place to relax and unwind with friends and family.
