Avatele Beach (formally Oneonepata)
Avatele (pronounced Arva-sell-y) is a village on the southwest coast of Niue and it’s here you’ll find one of the larger beaches on the island. Rather than your typical sandy shores, Avatele Beach is covered in thousands of pieces of coral, each one you pick up as unique as the last. The turquoise ocean waters paired with the white coral shore looks quite striking on a sunny day and is the perfect backdrop to enjoy a cold beer.
Just at the top of the beach you’ll find the Washaway Cafe and Bar, which is only open on Sunday’s. Serving up burgers and paninis, with an honesty payment system in place for patrons it’s the ideal spot to sit back and take in the gorgeous ocean views!
